Susa guided our group of 7 birders for two weeks through his lovely country. He is really a fantastic guide! He worked hard to satisfy everyone in the group with qualitatively observations. During the safaris in Yala, Bundala and Udawalawe he offered us also very good drivers. We also had a perfect bus driver during the whole trip. Susa has excellent guiding skills: very sharp ears, eagle eyes, patience, very good knowledge and background! He is also a warm personality. Kind and gentle, calm, a thought out way of communication, doing his best for the well being and comfort of every group member. Susa is cheerful, has a positive attitude, is very respectful, helpful and dedicated. We were totally relaxed during our birding trip. Finally, we all could admire 247 several bird species during this two weeks (good observations, incl. 33 endemic species), which is a fantastic result! Susa, thank you so much for the joyful weeks you gave us! We will never forget this exciting and beautiful experience!

Susa guided us around southern Sri Lanka for 12 days in early November 2023 and what a fantastic time we had. From the efficient pick-up at the airport through Kitulgala, across to Nuwara and Horton Plains, down to Thissamaharama and the amazing Yala NP, then over to Sinharaja rain forest and then down to the coast to Kirala Kele Sancturary. Susa's knowledge of the Sri Lankan bird life (and wildlife) was exceptional, seemingly no bird or bird call he did not recognise instantly. It was great fun tracking down owls in the rain forests despite the leeches and of course the added bonus of leopard in Yala. In the end 202 species seen and identified including 32 endemics. We could not have hoped for a better trip. Sri Lanka is a stunning country, the people are so friendly and Susa was the ideal guide, was a considerate and safe driver who we are very happy to recommend to others. Many thanks. David and Karen.

Susa was our guide and driver for two weeks when we had the pleasure of visiting beautiful Sri Lanka. He mad our trip absolute amazing. His knowledge of birds and animals, and of Sri Lanka in general, is absolutely amazing. He would hear and spot birds that we otherwise would never have found, and my husband is pretty good at spotting birds. ???? Susa is an extremely kind person that makes you believe in the goodness of people again. Please don't hesitate to hire him as your guide and driver. You will have a fantastic time and see amazing animals and nature. Kind regards, Anika Mulder (The Netherlands)

We were guided by Susa for a 20 day visit in 2018, during which Susa accompanied us every day. I cannot speak too highly of him. he is a very capable birder, has an encyclopedic knowledge of every aspect of the wildlife and its culture, and is also one of the kindest and most considerate men I have ever met. All of which adds up to a top class guide who I have no hesitation in recommending to anyone visiting Sri Lanka.

My wife Isabel and I Philip Espin, my son Luke and daughter in law Fiona hired Susa for 10 days and had an excellent time as he showed us the wildlife of the Yala and other sites along the south coast. I am an experienced birder and have travelled and been guided all over the world. Susa is definitely in the top tier of bird guides I’ve come across. He is an excellent birder, great at locating birds and getting you onto them. He works well with local guides going above and beyond the effort some guides put in. It was amazing how he pulled out a pair of Seredib Scops Owls out of an immense bamboo thicket at Sinaraja Rain Forest. He speaks very good English and shared his knowledge of Sri Lankan wildlife and culture in a friendly but compelling way. My wife, son and daughter in law were also impressed. I was recommended Susa by English birding friends and have recommended him to others. You cannot go wrong with him.

My wife and I had the good fortune to have Susa as our guide for three weeks in Sri Lanka. He has a great knowledge of all things Sri Lankan and greatly enhanced our trip with his knowledge. Susa possesses an unrivalled familiarity with the diverse bird species that call Sri Lanka home. His ability to identify and locate these magnificent creatures is truly remarkable, with several instances of birds being found in unlikely circumstances. What sets Susa apart is his unwavering commitment to providing a customized and personalized adventure. When we had an afternoon free, he was able to arrange an additional National Park tour which meant we saw elephants that we might otherwise have missed. When we had questions about food or customs he always had a ready and cheerful answer. I would recommend Susa as a guide to anyone who is about to visit Sri Lanka. He is a complete professional and a very good person.

Response from the guide:

Thank you so much for all your appreciations dear Lloyd and Sue. It has been an enjoyable time I spent with you two. Still I remember your cheerful faces like today. Hope to see you again in Sri Lanka. Susantha

My husband and I have enjoyed 2 wonderful birdwatching holidays in Sri Lanka (7 days in February 2006 and 15 days in March 2010) and Susantha has been our Guide and Driver on both occasions. In addition to being a careful driver he is polite, professional, reliable, speaks very good English and is an excellent birdwatching guide. Susantha goes over and above to make sure you see your target birds and he found us every one of the endemic species. One example of his dedication was whilst we were staying in Kithugala. Susantha woke up at 4am and crossed the Kelani River to locate the roosting site of the Serendip Scops Owls. He then came back across the river to wake us to say that he had located them! In addition to his incredible birdwatching skills he also has a terrific knowledge of the mammals, reptiles and culture of Sri Lanka. We would have no hesitation in recommending Susantha as a Guide. You will not be disappointed. Gillian and Derek Marsh (England)

Response from the guide:

Dear friends Gillian and Derek, It has been seventeen years now since I first met you two in Sri Lanka on a birding holiday. Within the first few days you two became my friends more than clients, and ever since then, I have no words to tell you how close you are to my family and myself. Thank you so much for your beautiful words. Hope to see you again in Sri Lanka. Susantha
